I have been using cloudflare since last 6 months to manage my domain and my website.
What is cloudflare?
Cloudflare is especially a global network that provides content , delivery, security and several optimization features for website .It also allows to manage apps, api.
Who uses clouflare?
Nowadays cloudflare is being used by large organization like IBM, Microsoft and Apple .Also it is also used by several e commerce platforms like shopify and several media services like netflix uses clouflare . Programmers use it for serverless computing and to enhance speed performance and reliability
How to use cloudflare?
Using cloudlfare is not much harder and you can also get into it by following steps
Go to cloudflare website and create a account (paid/Free)
Enter your email and set a password
There you will see a option of add site where you can enter your domain also
You have to update you nameserver as it server 2 nameserver
To update a nameserver you have to go to domain registrar and update your domain's nameserver with cloudflare.
Add 'A' or 'CNAME' record in DNS record and set proxied 'ON'.
Go to SSL/TLS setting and choose any one among this 3 [flexible ,full, full(strict)]
You can also enable CDN and caching to reduce load time.
For better security enable DDoS and Bot protection.
What are its Features?
Cloudflare speeds up website loading times.
It acts as a reverse proxy literally by sitting between users and website servers for traffic.
It also provides our website from DDos attack by identifying and reducing threats.
It allow us to add dNS record which is faster .
It's firewall helps to prevent malicious traffic before it reaches our server.
Cloudflare also helps to reduce our bandwidth costs.
It helps in optimizing cloud storage.
Which plan you should select?
Generally cloudflare provide 4 types of plan
which include
1.Free plan : It is best for personal blogs and other small projects .In this plan you can get services like free CDN and free SSL/TLS security and up to 3 page rules .This plan is not suitable for high traffic websites as for high traffic websites a several things is needed to be managed so it is better to select next plan.
2.Pro plan : This plan costs 20 dollar per month and this is also suitable for small websites .Here you can get several benefits like Web app firewall and this allow you to add 20 rules and proper image optimization .This plan is not preferred for e commerce stores and larger organization which needs enterprise level security.
3.Business plan : This plan costs 200 dollar per month .This is for large organization and e commerce. It is also preferred for high traffic sited because it allows several features like Advanced WAF with custom rules . High protection to a website and custom SSL certificates.
4.Enterprise plan : It is a custom price service .It is best for banks financial organizations and high traffic websites .It provides 24/7 dedicated support . Beside this it gives access to AI powered security and it is not necessary for medium and small business due to its high cost.
